Is chocolate safe while breastfeeding

Chocolate the issue with chocolate is the caffeine content. If you have a baby who is not sensitive to the amount of caffeine in a single cup of coffee (between 120-180mg), then you should be okay to eat chocolate. To compare, a Hershey's milk chocolate bar has 10mg of caffeine.

I ate chocolate too. I also had a cup of coffee in the mornings after my second trimester. It was okay. :)

Hi Peggy--that's good to hear that you were able to find that out! Did you find out while you were nursing? How did you know? Is your baby sensitive to all caffeine sources too? Sometimes I think we just don't know anyone who has experienced some of these things, so it's really great to hear your perspective!

        Tish,
My baby (son) had a lot of gas, diarrhea and he very irritable. I also had to watch it if I drank wine, coffee or tea.
