Kids' runny noses

It really does depend on why they have a runny nose as to what I'll do about it. If it's a cold, they get homemade vapo rub.. If it's sinuses, we just keep lots of kleenexes around to keep wiping because sinuses just need to drain.

Sounds similar to what we do.

2 tablespoons coconut oil, 3 drops eucalyptus essential oil, 3 drops peppermint essential oil, 3 drops lavender essential oil .. and there's one more essential oil that does the job of the menthol but I don't have it and can't remember it.. It's easier on them than the Vicks which has been known to cause respiratory problems when used very much.

They don't mind it. Plus I can let them put it themselves which helps get it on sometimes because it won't hurt them like the Vicks.

modernalternativemama.com has the full recipe. It works a lot better with that fourth essential oil.

I'm still learning and only have a few-usually my source of knowledge comes from my sister. I have a list of ones I want to get. My goal is to fill our medicine cupboard with essential oils instead of commercial ones. I kept elderberry syrup in the cupboard for colds, gave it to the kids whenever a sniffle came along this winter and we didn't catch the flu. Even forced it down my hubby a few times.
