My eight month old has two bottom teeth and four top teeth, and today I started noticing her grind them together. Is that common? Can I get her to stop?
The sound is terribly awful, I cringe every time she does it. I hope she doesn't make a habit of doing it.
I think for adults they have mouth guards for this but I have no idea what they would do for a baby. I'd call the pediatrician if it persists. Let us know, I would love to know what he says.
My children did that also. I hated it. They only thing you can really do is wait it out. They eventually stop. We don't always stop and think about the fact that everything is new to a baby and little things they do that worry us is their way of discovering the world and their own bodies. I was worried about it also and ruining their teeth but the are all fine and so are their chompers. Just hang in there! It stops I promise.
