My sister will just let the do whatever as long they stay latched on.. I will let them hold a stuffed animal at the most, but if they try to twist around or such they loose the booby.. If they are hungry enough, they'll settle down.
My daughter usually needs something in her hand so I either let her have the burb cloth or a soft toy. It keeps her free hand busy and keeps her from pulling my shirt, hair or whatever might be within reach!
Avery pretty much just plays with my face while she nurses, LOL. If she pops off three times then we're done.
I had a couple who moved around a lot, but they usually settled down once they got my milk to let down. The older they are sometimes amidst their busyness they snack lightly and off to play they go or if they get a boo boo they'll come for comfort and want to nurse a few seconds. That usually didn't bother me.
