Why does your hair fall out after pregnancy

I was told a couple of things:

1. It's hormonal.

2. There's a nutrient deficiency. I cannot remember what at the moment....

A quick google search revealed this,

"During pregnancy, an increased number of hairs go into the resting phase, which is part of the normal hair loss cycle." Then after birth we lose it.

But it is normal and if you feel you are losing an abnormal amount of hair, it is recommended to see if you do have a nutrient deficiency.
