Tell Us About A Veteran You Know

Since today is all about celebrating our veterans both those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and those who have served and still serve us today, I thought it would be nice to hear about the veterans you know.

For me, I know a few. The first being my Grandfather, he served in the Navy during the Korean War on a destroyer. He is to this day one of the wisest most incredible men I have ever known. I love hearing about all of his old Navy day stories.

Next is one of my best friends. She served in the Army and is now a mother and I just don't know how she does it all!

Thank You to all of the Moms out there on Moms.com who have served or help support their families while their husbands or SO help defend our freedoms!

Oh wow...pretty much all the men in my family. My grandpa daughter in WWII, 3 Uncles that I know of and my Dad were in Vietnam, my father in law served in the Army, my brother in law was in the Gulf War, I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting. I know my Grandma was a nurse at an Army hospital as well.

My Grandfather: JG Lieutenant for WWII Navy (a doctor and cook aboard--had to treat who he could and bury the rest at sea; all were his friends).
My hubby: 12 yrs with National Guard (Sgt. for 8 yrs).
My cousins: Richard and his wife, Jared, and Peter.
Friends: Justin, Bryan, and Herbert (all were over seas veterans; Herbs was called out to 9/11 just after he finished boot camp).
Justin continues to serve (he has two young children and a wonderful wife).

My hubby's niece, Kaitlyne, wants to join when she finishes HS (she is in the eleventh grade).

My maternal grandfather was in the Navy. He was present at the bombing of Pearl Harbor and then served in Japan during WWII. My paternal grandfather was in Korea with the Air Force. He is no longer living, but did not die in combat. My paternal step-grandfather served in the Army. My great uncle Sonny was killed in action in Korea. My aunt met her husband in the Air Force.
And last, but certainly not least, is my husband. He served in Iraq with the Marine Corps. He has now been discharged, but remains very proud to be a Marine.
