Tell Us About A Veteran You Know
Since today is all about celebrating our veterans both those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and those who have served and still serve us today, I thought it would be nice to hear about the veterans you know.
For me, I know a few. The first being my Grandfather, he served in the Navy during the Korean War on a destroyer. He is to this day one of the wisest most incredible men I have ever known. I love hearing about all of his old Navy day stories.
Next is one of my best friends. She served in the Army and is now a mother and I just don't know how she does it all!
Thank You to all of the Moms out there on Moms.com who have served or help support their families while their husbands or SO help defend our freedoms!
For starters my father was a Engineer in the Army in Vietnam. My step-father was a Frogman (Navy Seal) in WW11. My father in law also served in Vietnam. Both my grandfathers served during WW11. Also my dear friend Alun who gave all in afganistan in 2007. We named my son after him.
My hubby: 12 yrs with National Guard (Sgt. for 8 yrs).
My cousins: Richard and his wife, Jared, and Peter.
Friends: Justin, Bryan, and Herbert (all were over seas veterans; Herbs was called out to 9/11 just after he finished boot camp).
Justin continues to serve (he has two young children and a wonderful wife).
My hubby's niece, Kaitlyne, wants to join when she finishes HS (she is in the eleventh grade).
And last, but certainly not least, is my husband. He served in Iraq with the Marine Corps. He has now been discharged, but remains very proud to be a Marine.
