Shopping cart sanitizing

So I just ran to Walmart and seen a mom with a baby probly 8 months or so and she put all her stuff in the back of the cart and was carrying him. Honestly about to drop him in between her jacket and his and pushing the cart. We all know how that is but she only carried him till she got to the sanitizing wipes then put him in the cart. My question is; Do you sanitize your shopping cart before you put your kids in them? We all should lol but do we?

It's a little hard to remember when you have a couple kids and trying to get them all to listen and trying to make sure none are running off or getting stolen. I think kids are going to get germs regardless but we should sanitize those nasty things.lol.

When they are that little, I use a shopping cart seat. Other than that, I am guilty of not sanitizing.

I always had that blanket thingy... it fit the cart seat part where the baby sits and covers the metal places where .. my kids would lick and chew and suck on the sides and handles and yuck!!

I also saw an Oprah once where she did this test with a cotton swab and she found fecal matter particles on grocery cart handles and in bowling ball holes... That was enough for me...

I've relaxed considerably, but I do have anti-bacterial wipes at all times and we use them after touching the cart or going to extreme public places.. My kids have a pack in the back seat and will wipe their hands without being told now...

I'm not a germaphobe either... I'm pretty relaxed and as my kids are a little older, 6 and 9 understand that if they're going to get sick, they're going to get sick.. but there are certain places where who knows what's on there..

So yes.. I wipe it down.. if not.. then we wipe our hands in the car before we get home to wash them... But I've made mistakes.. and if I don't have them, can't find them and need to put a baby down then I do...

I always assumed I'd go with one of those fabric seats that go in the cart. I assume I probably will cave in to the desire to sanitize, but after a certain age you know it's gotta be good for the immune system. Would def. sanitize during breakouts of sickness.

Yes, I try to. Or we put on our non-toxic hand sanitizer before we enter the store and again once we get back in the car. Plus we wash our hands once we get home. Overkill? Maybe but hey so far we are staying healthy.

My opinion is I think there is to much of the sanitizing going on. If your kids don't get germs how will their little bodies ever be able to fight off any sickness! When going in to stores I let my little ones take a couple of things to hold in so they don't touch anything.

I don't even bother to be honest. I may become more of a germ nut when Connor gets home, but right now, I don't worry about it.

nope. I don't let them chew on them by any means, but germs help their immune system.
