Nose Picking, yum.

Okay, so I know this is gross, but most people pick their nose. (Adults included, there was a survey.) Kids especially are in the habit of picking their nose and.... gag.... eating it.

Most parents swat away at this behavior because it is pretty gross and not really socially acceptable. Before a certain age though, how much of what a child does IS socially acceptable by adult standards?

The reason I am posting about this is because I've read several things that suggest despite the gross out factor, you should let them do it. Why? Because it boosts their immune system substantially.

It's like getting tons of little mini-vaccines to common germs your child encounters and prepping his or her system against them early on.

Do you let your child pick his or her nose? At what age would you make them stop (ie, do it in private when mommy's not looking.) ?

I've heard it's good for them too. We tell ours to go to the bathroom and do it. ;)

I usually tell my kids to only do it at home. My husband picks his nose (does NOT eat it) and so its hard to tell them not to pick theirs.
Lol, I could see that being a toughie. Well, at least you're doing them a favor in the process!
