Article: 'The Waiting': A birth mother's quest to meet her daughter after 77 years

I recently read a book called, The Waiting. I cried so much in the book I used up a pile of tissues! The book is a true story. As a matter of fact one of the author's is the granddaughter of the main character, Minka.

The book is about Minka's journey from giving up a child, who was conceive when Minka was raped as a teen, through the 77 years later to the day they met again.

It is an incredible story and I cannot even imagine what it must have been like for Minka but I am so glad she will end her days knowing and loving on her daughter and her family and them on her.

The link below is an interview on the Today show.

Can you even imagine what it must have been like for Minka? Would you have had the same feelings that she did after what was done to her?…

It is difficult to imagine that, more so to find out how you were conceived (My hubby and his older brother were the result of rape when their mother was in her mid and late teens). That is an amazing story. Thank you for sharing. I am the type that needs a lot of tissues as well. I recently read an older book: Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul 2.

This made me cry as well; I am such a cry baby. Lol
