Why it's good for kids to play Minecraft

As a mom of a little man who is completely obsessed with Minecraft, I really enjoyed reading this article. Many of these reasons we have already seen - Mason is much more creative and has an impressive grasp of spatial needs. His building both inside and outside of the game has taken leaps and bounds since we introduced him to the game. He has also gotten much more social. He used to be a little boy that wouldn't talk to anyone, now he is happy to tell everyone what he is building in the game, what his plans for the future are, and what the newest technique he learned is. Sometimes we worry that the game is consuming his entire life because it's ALL he wants to do or talk about, but we limit his exposure and time to play and have found a very happy balance. I have so many good things to say about this game... including how much fun my husband and I have when we play with him!!

Do your kids play Minecraft? What do you think of it?

Uhm...I hate to admit that I have no idea what it is beyond just hearing about it.

Do it. I can't tell you how many times my husband and I have stayed up WAY TOO LATE playing together while the kids all sleep :)

We only let Mason play on the server we created - it's him, us, some of my husband's co-workers, and 2 of Mason's friends from preschool ;)

obsessed with babywearing, cloth diapering, and breastfeeding (but not judgmental about those that aren't). I'm a SAHM that works. Loves cupcakes, kittens, and glitter; hates spiders, housework and pessimism.
