Spoon Training

Now that Avery is almost one I want to start helping her learn to use a spoon. I'll put the spoon in her hand and then guide her hand from the bowl to her mouth. She kind of gets it, but as soon as I let go she just bangs the spoon around until she knocks all the food on the floor.

Do you have any tips on how to spoon train? How do I get started?

I always gave them their own spoon..it meant washing two spoons for every feeding, but they seemed to learn when they had their spoon while I was feeding them.
We're still working on it now. Maddie much prefers using her fingers, and I feel like I overcompensate and mess-avoid too much by spoon feeding her some things that aren't finger foods. We really need to work on this, so I also appreciate any tips!

They just learn on their own. We didn't do anything special.
