How do you like to be shown you're appreciated by your SO?

I have to say that I'm pretty blown away with how great Ed is. He works all day, he's on call every night and only gets one weekend off a month. Even still, he keeps the cars/trucks running, steps up to hang out with Charlie so I can get things done around the house, comes shopping with me because I haven't figured out how to do it by myself with a kid yet. That's just a list of what I have in my head at the moment...

He's a quiet guy, not a man of many words and does not celebrate certain days. So when I want to be acknowledged I pretty much just have to tell him that I do. For Mother's Day I did not wait for him to say YAY HONEY THANKS! I said, politely.. I would like to go to lunch for Mother's Day. And it was so.. he even took me for ice cream too :)

But on an average day when he sees that I've had a rough one with Charlie, and we're working at the rental and I'm covered in dust and filthy and tired and still going at it, It feels great at night when he snuggles up behind me and just says "Thank you". That's what does it for me.

What about you? Do you like being taken out to dinner? Maybe a shopping trip or an afternoon with a babysitter? How do you like to be shown you're appreciated?

When my husband notices I'm snuggled in and Maddie's napping on me, he'll bring me a drink and a snack without me having to ask. He's thoughtful about the little things.

It's the little things. I love it when my husband brings me my orange juice in the morning or breakfast in bed. Yesterday he endeared himself to me by hanging out clothes on the line! ;)
