No nap today!

Maddie has been awake for ten and a half hours. I am not ready for her to outgrow naps yet! I don't think we are there yet, as this is only the second time this has ever happened, and she slept in pretty late this morning.

When do kids stop needing a nap?

Well, my personal (and reasonably well-research, if I do say so myself :-), opinion is that all children need a nap until age 3. If a child gives it up before then, I think parents should try to reinstate or at least have resting time until age 3. After 3, many kids give it up completely. Mine napped until about age 4-4.5 and then stopped.
