Cell Phone Emergency Alert Systems

I realize this system can be used for many good things, and it's an awesome way to get the word out quickly of danger. But come on.. They have our address, they have the graphics of high land and low land.. WHY do we need to get a text at 2 AM in the morning of flash flood warning when we live on high ground???? WHY???? We are both dog tired today and feel like we had a small heart attack when that thing went off. Thankfully the kids were sounds asleep and it didn't scare them awake.

Rain wrapped tornadoes hide, you can't see them until they are on you. It's one of the few things I miss about my smart phone-easy way to see the radar. My smart phone I could shut them off.. But my hubby's new phone we haven't found the option.

Yes, it is nice to get the alerts.. At the same time when it went into effect last summer we would be in the basement because of tornadoes and nothing came through the cell phone alert system.
