surgery tomorrow

I have to be at the hospital tomorrow at 615 tomorrow morning for my hernia repair and tubaligation.
I am nervous because the will be putting me under anistisia. I have never done that before.
I will also have to pump and dump for another 24 hours after that because of the anistisia.
I did pump and dump for the 36 he's while I had my cold so I could knock it out and take some meds.
Thank goodness for my stockpile of breast milk.

Hi Shannon! I've been put under before. I'm sure some docs do it differently but when I had my wisdom tooth out just a couple weeks ago they did it like this.

They prep you for an IV, then have you breathe into a mask. You start to feel funny. Literally FUNNY! I was giggling like crazy and I think I was talking about peaches or something. Then they start the medicine in the IV. Then you wake up!

It really is like that! You have no clue that you just did your surgery and now everything is fine. I was asking the nurses when we were going to start..haha. We were already done!

Ask a lot of questions, they'll explain every step and put you at ease. Let us know how it goes :)

Anesthesia honestly isn't that bad. I had a tubal ligation I was so nervous about going under because I had never been put under before. It was no where near as scary as I pictured it. They will give you something in your I.V. to help you relax before you go in the O.R. The last thing I remember is them trying to set me up so I would be comfortable and next thing I knew I was waking up in the recovery room. You will be sore for a few days and there will be a lot of pressure on your neck and shoulders from the gas they use to help them get past your organs to get to what they are working on.
