Cost of having a baby

For a home birth we were told it would be around $4k out of pocket before 37 weeks our insurance wouldn't cover it.. for the hospital birth, we were told it would only be $6k with the midwife.. We got a bill for $14k. We disputed $1k of it because of pitocin shot that went against a written birth plan..still waiting to hear about financial aid.

It is common practice at the hospital we prefer. About 15 weeks, the finance office talks to us. I am not going back there unless I have complications.
We got the letter today that they wrote it off because of our financial situation. If they would actually work with us, it wouldn't worry me, but they want us to pay way more a month than we can fit it. Hopefully, if we are blessed again, we can save up the money to pay for a midwife at home.
