Is it safe to eat deli meat when you're pregnant

It is not safe to eat precooked deli meats when you're pregnant unless they are cooked until steaming hot right before you eat them. Deli meats commonly have a bacteria called listeria. Pregnant women are 20 times more liking to get infected with listeria then other women. Listeria infections can cause miscarriage, preterm labor, and even death.

Listeria is also found in hot dogs, unpasteurized milk, soft cheeses, and uncooked poultry. Listeria can grow even grow in refrigerated food which makes recooking until steaming hot important.

I didn't avoid them at all. Interesting about Listeria infections and miscarriage.
