Swimming

Ok so I took London down to the pool yesterday to put her feet in the water to see if she will like it.. Well I thought wrong my husband took London into the pool with him to see how she will like the water so we put her feet in the water and as soon as we did she starting crying... How will I know that she'll be ready to be in the pool?

You may need to do more. I know with Hayden she cries her head off if it's just her toes... but if we go in with her and are holding her we can put her all the way in at once and she likes it MUCH better. She's a little fish as long as we are all the way in the water with her :)

We started Avery in swimming lessons at 7 months old. Our local swim school was great, but they said that if a child is scared of the pool it will take about 6 classes before they calm down. One girl in Avery's class would scream bloody murder the whole class, even though she was in her moms arms the whole time. Then, magically, she was perfect on the 6th class. Like giggling, happy perfect. Babies are weird like that.

I would just give her time. I would also try just holding her close while you stand in the water with her. If the water is up to your shoulders she'll be submerged and you can just comfort her until she calms down.

Is the water too cold for her? I would just keep trying. She should get use to it, I would think.

It was probably the water temperature. Remember she was in your warm tummy for 9 months and only here for three, she still wants to be warm. They have little swim suits for infants to help them retain their warmth. I used one with my youngest when he was a baby. I found it at Swimoutlet.com (I think that's the url!?) Just search infant swimwear and see what comes up. In the meantime, I'll see if I can find it....
