What advice would you give to a first-time mom who is nervous about labor?
I tried to be really strong when the nurse told us that they would be doing the c-section that evening. Mostly because the bf got really nervous. I remember it so well, when she said that my OB would be there at 6pm that night, all color left the bf's face. I was tough as nails until they wheeled me down to the operating room. I had to wait at the desk until my OB got there, and that's when I lost it completely. I just laid there in that bed completely silent and cried. I was so scared!
So in trying to answer this question I'm trying to think about what helped me. As scared as I was, as scared as Ed was, when he leaned down next to my ear and told me that the next time I was going to be in our house, Charlie would be home with us. That's what made the nerves subside a bit. Not all, mind you. I was still pretty scared, but that helped a lot.
So that's what I would say to a nervous mom. This may feel like forever and I know you're scared. But the next time you're in your hospital room, the next time you look in the mirror, you'll be a mama.
I would probably tell them it's not going to be as bad as you think. Oh and if you poop during labor you aren't the first one to do it, don't even think twice about it.
I might not be the best person to give advice, lol.
No advice about labor poop for you! (sticks tongue out)
