Article: The Kid ‘Milestone’ I’ve Been Dreading

This is certainly going to happen to us someday. Probably will happen to you too, if it hasn't already.

This mom's six-year-old dropped the f-bomb in a conversation. I think she handled it pretty well, but yes, this is not a favorite milestone.

My godson used to say my brother's name in a funny way. My brother is "Zach," but my godson couldn't get the "z" sound down, and it came out like an "F", and it wasn't too hard to imagine he wasn't saying Zach. At least he didn't intend to use the bad word, though--some kids can easily pick up proper usage and inflection!

So, have you made it to this milestone yet? If not, can you imagine it?

No. That's definitely a no-no word here. If anyone has dropped it, it would be my husband and the children would have told me! ;)

My older son says it a lot, so now my younger daughter says it, too. Ugh! I keep telling them that they need to get a job so I can start a cuss jar!

Sad to say Noah has said it, more than once, I thought about washing his father's mouth out with soap since I'm sure that's who he learned it from....

We lived in Costa Rica for a year and a half. Most people down there were learning or had learned English. The F bomb was used about as often as the word "the." I don't know if they thought it was cool or if they had no clue what it meant. That's really where my kids picked it up.

I feel like this one will come early in our house... Hubby and I will try to stop our potty mouths, but we drop F-bombs pretty constantly and casually as of now. I imagine it'll carry over into parenthood at least a bit.
