3 Years old for Dentist?

Our dentist told us he didn't need to see Avery until she was 3 years old. That seems late to me... I suppose we could go in early if we noticed any issues with her teeth, but what if it's something we can't see?

Do you remember how old your child was the first time they went to the dentist?

We had always been told 3. When Mason turned 3, we took him to the dentist and ended up having them tell us that Audrey should be seen as well (she was about 18 months) so she got seen as well. That particular office (it's a pediatric dentist) told us to visit every 6 months for children 3 and older, once a year for children under 3 starting 6 months after they get their first teeth.

I think 3 is the pretty standard answer for family practices or "regular" dentists. If you are able to find a pediatric dentist, they may offer to see you earlier.

Our dentist was the same way. Didn't want to seem them til 3 years old. I wasn't worried because our children had good teeth because they had good eating habits. So it is normal to me.
