When are pregnancy tests accurate

Pregnancy tests are the most accurate when the directions are followed exactly as stated. Not following the directions can cause you to get an incorrect result.

If a pregnancy test is positive and you followed the directions it is 99% accurate. There are very few reasons why you would get a false positive, which include some medications and some rare medical conditions.

If you get a negative pregnancy test you possible be pregnant but just not have enough of the hormone to give you a positive result. If you are testing too early you might have a false negative. If you drank too much water before you tested you might have a false negative.

Pregnancy tests are very accurate, so accurate that your doctors office will use the same tests when checking your urine for pregnancy.
