Why Are You So Fertile After Miscarriage - My Experience

As I shared in my post of How to Get Pregnant After a Miscarriage — My Experience, I have been very fertile most of my marriage life. I've had 14 pregnancies in the last 17 years. That's a lot. However, 6 of those have been miscarriages. I have no idea as to why I am so fertile after a miscarriage. Part of me wonders if because I have breastfed all of my children 1-4 years if the ovulation that was suppressed during breastfeeding didn't help preserve my eggs enabling me to get pregnant quicker. That is only speculation.

So I decided to see what the internet had to say about this topic just to see what answers I could find. The general thought is because pregnancy suppresses ovulation combined with the increase of hormones after pregnancy it results in higher fertility levels as your body goes back to your normal cycle and you begin ovulating again 2-4 weeks after miscarrying.

Kind of makes sense.

Yes, this is the first time in 17 years I am not pregnant or nursing, though my son still asks and he just turned 3. I've obliged on occasion but I have no milk for him. He just likes the comfort and cuddling I think.

Let's just say I am enjoying my "freedom" just a little. ;)
