Strawberry season started!

So excited that strawberry season has started here. Hubby and the older children went strawberry picking this morning and I cannot wait to see what they got. He called almost about 40 minutes ago to say they got ten baskets and they were only there an hour - fast little pickers they are! Hoping to take the younger children tomorrow.

Then there's raspberries and blueberry season to come....yummy!

We have gone berry picking since the children were little. If we miss years, the children miss going and are actually sad about missing out on berry picking. It's not only a bonding experience, it's also making memories.

Have you ever gone to a u-pick to pick berries?

We have taken toddlers and sure they may eat more than they put in the basket but it's still fun.

Yum. Me and my fiance went strawberry picking when we went camping a few years ago. It was fun and inexpensive. We went to a local country store around where we were camping and bought mason jars and the stuff we needed to make jam out of the strawberries then went back to our site and proceeded to make jam. :) I can't wait until we can take our kids up there and do the same thing with them!

Our strawberry and blueberries did not survive our move from our townhouse last year. So disappointed. :( The raspberries are exploding so we'll have those at least!

I have never gone to a u-pick to pick berries, but hubby is crazy with strawberries and he has strawberry plants out front and picks berries every now and then lol

It's always nice to have your own little patch. Ours didn't come back, unfortunately!

No, but I want to. My little girl would love it. There are blackberries and raspberries that grow on some of the back roads and we've occasionally snacked on them. My mom took us apple picking when we were younger.

That's what we use to do when we were younger is pick the berries in the wild, unless mom wanted more berries for the freezer then we headed to the blueberry fields.

The last time I went out doing that was when I was a little girl! It'd be a nice way for me and mother to have more quality time together. Not to mention having my children share the experience with us. :)

I haven't never been to a u-pick berry place myself but my daughter went with her class and my husband went with her. They had a blast. Everyone of us loves berries.

I was excited just reading your title! Ten baskets of strawberries sounds amazing--what are your plans for them?

I've never been to a u-pick, although I'd like to.

Tish, MANY got eaten, just snacking throughout the days over the weekend. We served some over pound cake for Father's Day. Then we got 8 jars of jam and POOF they are gone! I've really got to start our own patch of strawberries.

We eat them plain mostly. I didn't even get any frozen! The whole purpose is to put up food for the winter but we tend to eat it before any of that gets done.
