If you are experience period like cramps at 38 weeks then it means you are having contractions. Many women describe contractions as feeling like menstrual cramps. If the cramps have become regular and intense then you are probably in early labor. True labor contractions will be increasing in length and intensity and getting closer together. False labor or Braxton Hicks contractions will be irregular and the intensity will stay relatively unchanged.
