Brown spotting while pregnant

Brown spotting means that the blood is old and not fresh. Fresh blood will be pink or red. There are many causes for brown spotting. The most common cause is usually, cervical or vaginal irritation , caused by sex or vaginal exam. Other causes can include, implantation bleeding, infection, and other medical issues. Generally brown spotting is nothing to be concerned about and should be mentioned to your doctor at your next appointment. If the spotting turns red you should call your doctor right away to diagnose the cause of the bleeding.
