Article: What I Never Thought I’d Do

This article is about a mom who was in a store shopping and while shopping she came upon a baby crying, red faced, runny nose crying and the mother and a friend paying no mind to the baby. The author crossed the line into another mom's territory by going over to the baby and asking her, "What do you need?" The baby stopped crying, the two women looked at the woman and child. They then proceeded to walk away like the author did not exist.

Sigh.

I have entered into another mom's territory before. I remember the day clearly. We were shopping and there was a woman, who I could tell was at her limits, not enjoying her shopping or her children. I have no idea what they were going through but her children all had on long sleeves in the summer time. I admit it, I thought the worst and I ventured in her territory and gently said something like this on my way out, "Enjoy them. All they want is for you to love them." She didn't say anything and she could have ragged me out big time but didn't. I hope my words resonated with her.

Have you ever ventured into another mom's territory? What happened?

Awww... how creative of you! It's amazing how a little game can change their whole focus, isn't it?

I was at the park one day a couple years back and I was pushing him in one of those baby swings. A little girl came up to me and asked me to put her in the other swing, so I asked her did your mommy say you could get in and she said uhuh as I yes. So I out her in it and her momma came over and said I told your little Ass I wasn't putting you in a swing go play on something you can do by yourself and snatched her out of the swing. I felt so bad for the little girl because I try to be active with what my kids do and I don't cuss at them.

I know and that is usually the way I handle things too but that time I felt compelled to say something for whatever reason.

Friends are a little different. We are usually helping each other out and it's a given we'll enter their territory a little bit when together.
