A May Baby?

Oh, no, not me! :) We are hoping our little Miss Moo gives birth to a May calf. We are going to attempt AI (artificial insemination) whenever the vet gets here since she has symptoms of her heat cycle. Here's to hoping "it sticks". We won't know for probably 30-60 days for sure.

Wow, it should be really exciting))
So your Miss Moo is going to be a mom - and what does she feels about it?

I think she will be very happy as she's wanted to adopt baby chicks, kittens and even my own children! ;)

The vet came and did the AI. He said Miss Moo was his easiest AI in two weeks, so that might be a good sign. He won't check her for 60 days.

It is fun. I said to my husband, "If I am done having babies, then I am going to have fun having farm babies!" It's exciting and I feel like I am the expectant mama! lol!

Yeah, she could use one, but is not real fond of being hosed down. Our horse on the other hand likes to be hosed down. Go figure!

Chickens in winter is a little trickier but if you get a cold hardy breed they do quite well. We keep the older flock in the barn and it should be warmer up there this winter due to it being full of hay, whereas last year it was empty. We have these little huts for the rest of them and we winterize them by putting plastic around them creating a greenhouse affect. They stay in if it's too cold and they go out if it's an ok temperature for them. I'll try to find a photo of one of them and post it for you.....
