Your absolutely right...I often found that ignoring sometimes will work but there are times when confrontation needs to be healthy, focused, and resolvable.

I do that internal "Is it worth it?" decision making process before I argue. It really depends on how much I care about the person. If I don't care very much then I can walk away a whole lot easier. If it is someone I care about though I probably can't hold it in.
It depends. If it something where you know you won't make any headway with and/or it isn't that important, I say let it go. (Easier said than done!)
