Constipation remedies for babies: Karo syrup--just don't.

I've posted this before, and I will post it again if the question keeps coming up.

This is an old remedy that is no longer effective, because today's commercially prepared dark corn syrup might not contain the type of chemical structure that draws fluid into the intestine and softens stool. This makes dark corn syrup ineffective for infant constipation. Please do not use Karo syrup for constipation--there are better remedies and medications.

Very good to know. I don't think I knew about the Karo syrup, but my mom probably would remember it.
