Baby gets ears pierced, does it hurt them?

Yes. Of course it does. It's a needle going through their flesh. Think back to getting your own ears pierced. Did it hurt? Baby's have the same nerve endings we do, but they have less cognitive experience to know how to handle the pain.

With that said, it won't hurt long. Just a pinch and then maybe a little soreness for a day or two. I know some places offer to numb the ear before they pierce it so that could help. I don't think it would leave any long-lasting emotional trauma either. The worst that could happen is they could get infected if you don't take good enough care of them.

Personally, I'm going to wait until Avery is old enough to ask me if she want's her ears pierced.

I'm going to wait as well. If the girls want their ears pierced, they will have to prove some other way that they are responsible enough to care for their newly pierced ears - doing a chore for 10 days straight with no reminders or something along those lines - it's their body and their decision if they want their ears pierced or not.

We've waited too until they are old enough to decide for themselves.

That said, I don't think Kim Kardashian deserves all the bashing she is getting for having North's ears pierced. Do you all see that headline?
