7 week ultrasound pictures: no baby seen

It can be scary to go in for an ultrasound and your doctor can not find the baby. Sometimes it is a sign that there is something wrong with your pregnancy and other times it just means you are not as far along as you think.

If you have an ultrasound at 7 weeks and the doctor doesn't see a baby they might see a sac. There is a chance that it is just too early to see the baby and that the baby is still too tiny. It might mean that there is no baby and your pregnancy is not viable and you will have a miscarriage.

Your doctor will most likely recommended getting some blood tests done to check your hCG levels. They will usually do repeat blood tests 48 hours later to compare the levels over time. They will also likely recommended getting a repeat ultrasound in a week or two.

Even though it is scary try to stay calm. It is common for women to not be as far along as they though they were. Sometimes you just ovulated later than usual. If you are suffer from a miscarriage please take care of yourself. Know that we are here to support you during this time.

    Great advice, Katie.

When I found out I was pregnant with my oldest I had no idea how far along I was. I actually didn't know I was pregnant when I went in for my pap smear. When they did the ultrasound to see how far I was there was just a little teeny tiny thing there. It looked like a mini figure 8. They couldn't go by that for sure, so I had another one not long after, maybe two weeks? That's when they figured out I was about 7 weeks along. There still wasn't much to her at that point, just a little squiggle.
