Tubes tied and pregnancy: is pregnancy still possible?

Getting your tubes tied is a permanent form of birth control called a tubal ligation. A tubal ligation is not 100% effective in preventing pregnancy. There is a slight risk of becoming pregnant after a tubal ligation. In the first year after a tubal ligation 5 out of 1,000 women will get pregnant. In the first five years after a tubal ligation is done 13 out of 1,000 women will get pregnant.
