Tips for an at home business... Share yours!
My biggest tip for an at home business is to never give up! By that, I don't mean... stick with the very first project you ever started ever and never switch paths. I mean keep trying until you find what works for you and stop if it's not RIGHT for you. Not because it's challenging. Challenging can be a great thing and growing with a business is such a rewarding experience. I think you'll know in your heart if it's not right for you, though... And you can always ask for a sign.
Resistance, I think, is not always a sign that something is wrong. If you feel like you need to do something.. because of YOU, not because of everybody else or what they'll think or the benefits to them, but because you think it's YOUR calling, you might meet resistance... but it's still a worthy endeavor. Even doing projects for other people can be helpful, expland your horizons, teach you, show you things you hadn't thought about already... they may be a stepping stone to the business you didn't know you were dreaming of!! So, don't shy away from opportunities, but don't cling if it doesn't feel right. The world is full of limitless possibilities.
My other major tip is steady as she goes! (Now that song is stuck in my head and that's the ONLY line I can remember, haha!) Building a business might take time and effort, but break it up into manageable chunks! Learn the difference between important and urgent and make sure to do your IMPORTANT tasks, even if they're just important to you. The doors will open up, I promise you so much, if you put in the effort to fill your dream and you put in the effort consistently. Don't do a mjor chunk and let it fester all the time. Sometimes, I think this is great... Especially in the beginning. It lets your idea “percolate” and more ideas may come from this. WRITE THEM DOWN. I like Evernote for keeping track of this sort of thing. It's free and I have it synced to my computer and phone, so no matter what I can add an idea and organize it. But... dive in! Learn! Just put in consistent effort and it WILL pay off.
Lastly, never stop learning. Even when you're a pro, a guru, an expert... keep on learning! Things change. And sometimes they don't. Sometimes they build.... No matter what, by continuing to learn, you figure this out. Keep going.. Immerse yourself... Give yourself brain breaks though, and always put your knowledge to USE. Don't accept just anybody's answer... find multiple sources... create your own thoughts. Innovate. Be the master of your field, your passion. Always, always, keep learning.
Those are the things I find most useful. What about you? What helps you with an at-hom business?
