Tattoos

For or against: Recently my middle daughter asked if she could have a tattoo and we were at my in-laws. I told her when she was old enough that she is more than welcome to get one or even more than one. Her grandmother, spoke up and said "NO!" That she don't need to have any or get any. Her grandmother said to me that I could tell her no that she is not allowed to have any, but where do I have that right once my child is of age to tell her no. I said I couldn't tell her no when I myself have a few tattoos.

My Question: Would you tell your child no they could not have a tattoo even if you have them yourself? If so why?

One of my sister's has a few tattoos but I don't have any. I'm not against them I just don't think they'd look right on me.

Actually one of my stepson's has tattoos as well, I just thought about that. He's 20 though and it's up to him what he wants to do.

no matter what we tell our kids ultimately they will do what they want if we as parents prohibit anything they will find a way to get or do simply because we said no, my opinion ,is 1 you cant really say no because it would be hypocritical on the parent s part that does have them, but you don't want to say yes because others will see it as bad parenting or encouragement because society is not that comfortable with tattoos just yet and associate them with not so good things, its a catch 22 i say follow what you feel is right and if that doesn't turn out at least you can be there to soften the blow as it comes.

It's their decision once they are old enough. My mom didn't want me to get any and wasn't happy when I did but at the end of the day I was 22, living on my own and old enough to make my own decision. I would just pray that if they do that they seriously think it through and research the places or artist that they want to use. I have 3 and 2 of them I am considering having removed. One is botched pretty bad. It was supposed to be a tribute tattoo after I miscarried and it is just so horribly done that I hate looking at it. And the other is my oldest daughters name. I have it on my wrist and it is bigger than I wanted it to be but the artist insisted he couldn't do it any smaller. I liked it when I first got it done but now I feel like its in a spot that I don't want it to be. I plan on getting one with all of my kids foot prints and names so I don't want to have her name on there twice. Also for some reason the ink bleeds in my skin. Its rare that it happens but for some reason the ink spreads around where the tattoo is. Figures I had to be one of that small percentage of people it happens to. Lol. I already contacted serenity spa to find out how much it would cost to have the two removed. Once I get a little money put aside I think I am going to go ahead and go through with removing them.

I would be a hypocrite to tell my kids no to getting a tattoo. If they choose to get one (or more) that is their choice. If they were to ask me to go with them, I totally would :)

My mom took me for my first tattoo at 18 and she herself got a tiny one so that we can always remember that day. The only thing she asked of me was to keep them in places that wouldn't affect my future in a work place. Which I'm grateful for because tattoos are not allowed where I work.

A stay at home mom of three wonderful little girls. None of my girls were planed, but I wouldn't change it for the world. Before I became a stay at home mom I was in the military for 8 long years.
