The loyalty of a dog

I just can't tell you how much I love this.

Now that Lexi is a little older, about 14 months now, she has become much more "guardian" around here. When Charlie woke up the other day screaming his lungs out she went running to the nursery. She used to sleep in bed with us but since we moved out to the country she sleeps on the couch and keeps a watch out the front window.

If you have a dog (or other animal). Do they show signs of loyalty like that? I know if we were ever in a flood situation like this, Charlie and Lexi and Luda (the Guinea pig) would be the first things out of the house with me.. But if something were to happen, Lexi would just try to find dad. I'm so sure of that, she's such a daddy's girl.
