Flash cards

How old does your baby need to be to learn from flash cards?

I'm mostly kidding with that statement... I've never used flashcards with babies, but I do know some people that have. There are flashcards designed for all ages, it's really a matter of what you want to teach. Obviously an infant isn't going to be able to learn to read just by flipping some flashcards in their face, but they can practice focusing on things, and start recognizing and imitating emotions if you do flash cards of faces.

I've heard of people using flash cards early but I didn't start until my oldest was 15-18 months old with the alphabet and sounds. She learned to read by the time she was three, but I think that is an exception rather than the norm.
Any time, and continue to use them as they grow. We have animals and numbers also colors and shapes that will make it easy to identify these things in her picture books and other places. I think they're very useful.
