My toddler throws things often and I agree with the fact that they can not tell us how they really feel.
I agree. Even though my girls talk a lot more than most toddlers would at their age, they still have trouble expressing how they really feel when they are upset, mad or frustrated. They can to an extent but then they act out or throw things or maybe hit each other. I just try to explain to them that its not nice and offer different reasons that they might be upset. They are starting to express themselves through words a little better but still have quite a few of these moments. Now when my oldest is being mean to or picking on her sister Madison will tell me that "Hailey is being not nice." as opposed to just crying and whatnot and then us trying to figure out what happened.
Throwing things is part of learning cause and effect and of course, to get your attention. I agree that the lack speech can be very frustrating at this age.
