My kitchen "hack"

In my quest to kill the annoying ants in my house and have it be non toxic because if Tristen, I found a recommendation to use dish soap and water in a spray bottle. It works well but I discovered it has other uses. I needed to wash just one dish the other night so I grabbed my spray bottle of soap and water. I used so much less soap than the old put some soap on the dish rag trick.

Now anytime I need to soak a dish I just spray it with the spray bottle and when I'm ready to wash it it's easy to clean and I don't have to let it sit in water for an hour and get gross :-)

I've started washing all my counter tops with it and the stove top. It works better than any cleaner I've found so far. And I don't have harsh chemicals on my counter or being heated up and put into the air from my stove top.

It's works great to spot mop my hardwood floors when Tristen spills. Since it's made to clean up food it is perfect.

The best part is that it's one bottle instead of the 3-4 bottles of cleaners I had.

I know they don't like baby powder. Neither do ants. I sprinkle it around the window sills and base boards every year. It doesn't totally stop them but it does help. I know people who put the baby powder on the pets.

They don't. When I had a cat he was outdoors a lot and always bringing in fleas so I would put baby powder or the fragrant carpet powder on the carpet at night and then vacuum the next day. It helped SO much! Some years we had to spray outside all around the house but most years the powder and a flea collar worked well.

I hate bugs! Chances are the neighbors are spraying and sending the bugs your way. My old house had an open dirt basement that filled with water every year...it was bug heaven!

They don't like pepper...but neither do I! Lol I seriously have 3 different kinds of ants. It's horrible.

Normally the soap and water comes out like 4 parts water 1 part soap, sometimes a little less soap.

I use pepper I just sneeze for about an hour after I do lol

I was shocked at how much easier the dishes are to clean. Last night I did a baked thing for dinner. Had cheese and rice in it and it was baked on the pan. I sprayed the soapy water on it this morning before I started the dishes and by the time I washed that pan it just wiped right out...I did a little happy dance! Lol
