Bleeding and spotting from the vagina while pregnant

Any vaginal bleeding or spotting during pregnancy needs to be reported to your doctor. Bleeding or spotting during pregnancy is not normal but it is a common occurrence. Only your doctor will be able to determine the source and cause of the bleeding. Some bleeding can be serious and a sign of a miscarriage. Some bleeding can be minor and just caused by vaginal or cervical irritation. There are many other causes of bleeding and spotting as well. The best thing to do is stay calm and call your doctor for advice.
