Stomach flu dehydration during pregnancy

Getting the stomach flu is never fun, especially during pregnancy! During pregnancy it is very important to stay well hydrated. Dehydration during pregnancy can cause swelling, contractions and even preterm labor. Your doctor may prescribe you medication to help reduce your vomiting so you can keep fluids down. If you are unable to keep an fluids down your doctor might have you go to the hospital for IV fluids to get you hydrated.

To try to rehydrate yourself from home you can:
- Drink sips of water.
- Suck on ice chips.
- Eat a Popsicle.
- Drink sips of chicken broth.

At any point if you become concerned or start experiencing contractions you should call your doctor or go to the hospital.
