Day #1 of Midwifery Studies

Today marked the beginning of resuming my midwifery studies with my midwife and another student midwife. We started at 10am and ended at just about 3pm. We saw four moms, another mom didn't make it.

Two of the visits were normal prenatal visits. One mom was 28 weeks and the other was 22 weeks. Both of whom I may have the opportunity to be at their births.

The third visit was a consult with a couple at 32 weeks looking for a home birth.

The last was a postpartum visit with a baby just born on Saturday.

I thought it was a good mix for my first day. I really enjoyed it. What's there not to enjoy? We talk about pregnancy, babies, health, birth! :)

The day actually went really fast. We didn't get a lunch break due to some late arrivals etc. making our little planned break dissolve so I was starving and my tummy rumbled once really loud (blush!)...guess I've gotta get somewhat use to that though, right?

She does have a separate office in her home. It's in her basement.

All her children are grown etc. so she's an empty nester. Though they do come over a lot with the grandchildren since she has the biggest backyard for the swings, pool, sandbox etc. :)

I did. Hubby bought me a sandwich and I ate it on the way home, thankfully.

Yes. It's actually been ten years since I first started studying midwifery but put it aside until my children got older. I am calling this a trial right now because I can handle doing prenatals it will be the births that will be the deciding factor. I've never been to a birth but my own.

I had a Kashi bar in the truck but didn't bring it in with me, but that's a good idea because we did have at least five minutes between one of the visits.

We don't have any prenatals this week and I'm kind of sad. Weird since we just started. I'm just excited I guess!
