Do you check video games for content?

For those of you with kiddos that play video games, do you check games for their content?

We were at Gamestop the other day and a boy my sons age was getting Grand Theft Auto 5. I happened to hear the conversation where the associate asked the parent if they were okay with their son playing the game since it could not be returned once opened. The mom said "Oh yeah, he's a great kid. I don't have to worry about him."

Sorry, I just don't agree. I am fine with not being the cool mom and telling my kids I won't be buying GTA5.
