Model shows her ostomy bag

This story has personal meaning for me. My oldest daughter has an ostomy bag. I always worry about how her teenage and dating years will be. I worry about what other kids and boys will think and say to her. It is nice that this women was comfortable enough to not hide her disability.

I know I wouldn't be this brave, I only hope my daughter is this brave.

Oh, how brave! Is having a colostomy bag a permanent measure, or can it ever be removed/eliminated? Does your daughter also have Crone's? Thanks for sharing this story; it really is inspiring.

Temporary for some permanent for others.

My daughters is permanent at this point. She does not have Crohn's but she does have a different bowel disorder.

I can imagine that is hard on you and on her. It is very hard to be different when you are a child, but I am sure you will help guide her through it. At the end of the day, she will be stronger for the experience, though it may not be easy...I do feel like the world is becoming a little more accepting of differences, perhaps because of the proliferation of social media, where you can see things like this article.
