Back to school, groan.

When do your kiddos start going back to school? We have until September, but I have a countdown in my head of everything I will need to buy. Bub is going to need new shoes, Mini will probably want them too. Both kids can use their book bags from last year. Both kids need clothes, I feel like they always need clothes though lol. And then there's supplies. Cha ching, cha ching, cha ching... that's the sound of the registers taking my money, lol.

What do you budget for when the kids go back to school? Do you spend a ton of money or are you pretty good at keeping things low cost?

With three going back to school, I hear ya, cha ching! We get the essentials, shoes, socks, underwear, back packs and some new clothes! oh and that awesome school supply list :) My husband does 1-2 overtime shifts to pull it off. The kids start August 25...

My son starts his pre-school summer program tomorrow! He has special needs so he goes to summer school, then will have a couple weeks off and go right back to pre-school half day then start UPK the other half so he will be going all day starting in September! I feel like he's growing like a weed and will need all new cloths and shoes, and a new back pack as well. Ahh like you said the sound of the cash register kills my wallet haha...

My kids go back August 11. I have the same issue with having to buy a lot of stuff. Cloths, shoes, backpack, underwear, socks, belts, and the many school supplies.

My kids have not yet started going to school but I do know K-12 starts the same time the University starts, early August.

I nannied four kids for ten years before having my own so I have learned to always be on the look out for school supplies. A few good places to keep an extra eye out are parades, fairs, state fair, and doctor offices. Pencils and pens and facial tissues are normally given out with different business info on them. I know teachers have started requesting all children use the plain yellow pencils to help all the kids to be the same. I have also talked with many teachers and most don't have a problem with (a child I nannied) using a fun printed pencil especially after I share info about how we can't afford to buy yellow pencils. If the teacher is willing to provide yellow pencils then great but if not then the teacher really has no say in what pencils the child is given to use.

We start the third week in August. I have found that if you watch the sale ads early at the office supply stores the basic and harder to find items are cheaper than what is on sale at walmart, target, and Kmart. Also watch the sunday papers now for coupons. I will have two in high school and one in elementary this year
