No TV before 2?

Brielle's pediatrician said no TV before the age of 2 and I don't want to set her in front of it 24/7 but why can't I even show her educational shows? She said absolutely no screen time what-so-ever, whether its TV, Phone, or Computer. Just curious as to why it's so bad.

I heard the same thing and did a lot of reading on it. The main reason is children get mesmerized by TV and supposedly won't allow them to learn other important language and motor skills. Studies also show that when the TV is on parents talk less to their children, which hinders language skills.

With that said, I'm not sure I buy it. I don't sit Avery in front of the TV either but she does watch a few cartoons. She's only a year but she's already waving to the character's, dancing along, and imitating them. To me that seems like learning and I'm okay with it.

I think they just go overboard in hopes that parents will be more mindful of television, which I think is still a good thing.

I have heard of this too, but we limit TV anyways so I am not too worried. I think everything in moderation. Your daughter is still young for you to decide based on your own TV viewing.
