So it wouldn't be worth having a camera replace place look at it? I'm going to remember that sand and cameras do not mix.

As a side note, when my daughter goes off to college we will be camera-less (besides our phones) so I am going to be looking for one too.

Ugh. It happens, but it so hurts the pocket book. I remember dropping one of ours on our kitchen floor in our townhouse - tile on concrete, it never worked again, obviously. What kind are you looking to buy? The same one or a different one? I heard of one that could connect to WiFi making downloading so much easier, that's the one I want to research and find out more about. A blogging friend mentioned it, now I just have to find it on her blog again!

It does depend on the camera. If it is a single body style that you don't change the lenses then you are right, it can not be cleaned for less than a new one. But if you change the lenses then take the time to get it checked out at a camera shop. It could save you a lot of money when buying a new one.

/this one will cost more to fix than just getting a new one.
