December Birthdays

So, our baby is due on December 13, and I was just wondering how do You celebrate your, or your Childs birthday so near to Christmas. Do you celebrate it in December, or in the summer? Which, I personally couldn't do, but it was suggested to me. Do you do anything special/different? Oh, and if you have a December birthday, how do you feel about it? I am so excited to be having a baby near Christmas, I LOVE everything about Christmas, so this should be awesome! I think it's the perfect month!

Wow! December 26!? That's awesome! I get the no parties with kids though, not only is that Christmas week, that's Christmas vaca! I agree celebrating the birthday in December!! Well, if I forget, happy very early birthday ;)

I don't have one, but my best friend does. Her daughter is two days after Christmas and she would always do her birthday party somewhere in between Christmas and New Years. It is difficult though, lots of people are tapped out after Christmas and coming up with extra dough for a present might be a little difficult so I would let them know way in advance of the party where and when it will be.

LOL, so maybe I shouldn't write this!?!? But your comment about others being financially tapped out may NOT be such a bad thing! Man, I feel badly for saying that, but really, Christmas here with FOUR kids, we tend to run out of space in the bedrooms! Before Christmas, we have to go threw stuff to make room...let alone five kids........Melissa, that's a lot of stuff!!! :) Oh well, I think you are absolutely right in giving everyone a well in advance party invite!

Yeah, I have to! I think it would be strange to me NOT to celebrate the baby's first/second and so on, birthday on the actual birthday.

My birthday is 5 days after Christmas (new year's eve... eve haha), and my little sister is two days before me. I'm almost 30 and to this day I have never had my own cake or party. If we both wanted a "big" present (my size Barbie was a BFD in the 90s haha) we had to SHARE IT. So annoying.
So of course, what do I do? Marry a guy who also has a December birthday, because WHY NOT. hahaha I will admit, having a "holiday time birthday" has really turned me into a huge Grinch. :( So my advice? Celebrate the heck out of your kid's birthday, make it feel separate and special otherwise you'll have a Grinch of your very own. AND NEVER WRAP THEIR B-DAY GIFT IN CHRISTMAS WRAP!!!! I cannot stress that enough.

Great advice!!! Love the wrapping paper suggestion, never would have thought of that! Gotta say, December is a pretty hoppen month for you, lol!!! I will do my best to avoid raising a little grinch! No holiday themed birthdays here!!!!

I'm so glad you and Kristen mentioned the Christmas paper issue!! Seriously, I would have laced Christmas all threw his/her birthdays! Yikes! I'm kinda getting the feeling that I am going to be the only one psyched about a December birthday :)
