Hypnobirthing & other Materials

Hello Ladies!

I am reading a book called Hypnobirthing. I'm taking breaks from it throughout the day. I feel really behind. I haven't taken any real hypnobirthing classes. Anyone recommend any websites for breathing techniques or anything to help me with a natural unmedicated birth?

Thank you in advance.

We cancelled working with a doula because we couldn't afford it with the move. Birthing at a hospital; Erik and I compromised. Initially, I wanted a water birth at a birth center. Erik's son's birth was being recorded when the OB immediately instructed all recording to stop. His son's umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck and baby was immediately rushed out of the room. An hour later they met their son. Due to that traumatic experience, we both want medical intervention as close by as possible.

You know my Lamaze breathing helped me through my natural births. Have you read any Lamaze breathing techniques?

This could be my only biological child so I want the most out of my pregnancy, labor & delivery. I've done some reading on unmedicated, natural birth, and I like what I've read. Lots of benefits which I won't get into, but what I like most about it is my ability to be completely aware of my body; the ability to control my thoughts to direct my body to view what I'm feeling as pressure rather than pain. I desire a calm and gentle birth. I like the idea of my daughter entering this world alert and waiting at least 15 minutes before the umbilical cord is cut so baby doesn't lack full blood supply or oxygen.

I'm not sure if I technically used hyptobirth or not. I labored in the tub at the hospital and I used essential oils to help with staying focused, calm and with early pain. At 9 or 10 cm dilated the oils no longer worked for me to be pain free or minimal pain. I kept counting between my contractions so I knew things were progressing and the counting is what kept me focused. If you'd like to chat more about my births feel free to ask. Personally when I was pregnant I didn't care about other people's experiences because I knew my experience would be different. So like I said, if you want to know more I'm an open book, just ask. :)

I attended part 1 of 2 on childbirth, 2nd class is later this month. I took a breast feeding class. All classes so far are overviews and more introductory. If I could do a "do over", I would've stuck with paying $175 for a 12 week hypnobirthing series. I wanted to save as much as possible so last minute I opted to do a 1:1 with a hypnobirthing instructor paying a fraction of the cost...then life happened and our schedules conflicted :-(
