Cronic Disorders in Moms

Anyone else battling a chronic disorder/disease, illness?

After my daughter I found out I had Ulcerative Colitis (IBD - Crohns Disease) - it can be modified with diet. It also can go away with pregnancy - Jake's pregnancy was amazing... I drank all the milk I could get my hands on. Sadly this does not go away with every pregnancy. When I was pregnant with Cameron I was constantly sick and with the IBD plus on a diabetic diet from Gestational Diabetes.

After Cameron was born, I've been in and out of the doctors office. I just wanted answers - Contstantly sick to the point I couldn't drive more than 10 mintues without falling asleep behind the wheel. I felt like I lost control of my body. Taking care of three small children - I am doing all that I can.

I have my struggles, but don't we all? For me to escape my failure with being down with my illness, I use my art and Photography to try to create a "happy" place. What about you? What do you do?

The main foods to limit or restrict are red meat, dairy, and green veggies: especially broccoli, spinach, and greens. oh and onions.

I suffer from Fibromyalgia. It can be really tough to deal with and admittedly, when I was first diagnosed I didn't handle it well. I went through the denial phase pretty hardcore which was NOT helpful, as you can imagine.

I take daily medication for it but I stay away from pain killers. While that is a great way for some people to deal with the pain I know it would effect my mood and only complicate things. Instead I try not to push myself too much physically (which means I probably won't ever be doing that couch to 5k) but still try to remain active (yoga rocks ya'll!).

Danielle, you can probably relate to this, as I know I do. Have you ever heard of the spoon theory? Let me link it below here:

The doctors think I have some sort of autoimmune disease, lupus suspected. It worries me when I think about having kids, because I always wonder... what if something happens? What if I have a flare and don't have the energy to play with my kids? etc...

I don't do it as a means of escaping symptoms, but I do write which helps allay my fears in many aspects of my life. It's my way to work through things.
